A classic car portrait of your favourite car
A hand produced picture of a favourite classic car or racing car can make a great present. My method is relief printing* (linocut), a process of carving the image in lino or vinyl and hand printing from the carving. Each colour in the picture is a separate carving.
I can supply a single print or a short run of prints as a limited edition. The cost of the print depends on the complexity of the picture, number of colours etc.
*Relief Printing
A print is produced by applying ink to the surface of a printing plate. The plate’s uncut surface is the area which is inked and printed.
LINOCUT
A print is produced from a linoleum block (I often use vinyl), I transfer my drawn image on to the surface then cut an image using fine steel gouges. The areas of the block to be inked and printed are left uncut (in relief) and the areas of the design not printed are cut away. The block is inked and printed by hand using a relief (platen) printing press.
Classic Car Portrait Options
The pictures are a bespoke product and can be of a car or bike on it’s own, include a simple background or be set in a scene. The cost of the picture depends on the complexity. As a guide the examples below show pictures of different complexity. The pictures are generally produced at roughly A5 to A4. They can be produced bigger on request.
